South Jersey Expansion: Westville Brewery
As of 2020, Liberty Brew Tours is officially touring in South Jersey. The LBTSJ series shares our first experiences with our new brewing partners on our South Jersey expansion !
Overview
Westville Brewery is located right in the heart of… well, Westville. What were you expecting ? It’s the gateway to South Jersey. The Liberty crew visited on day 2 of our own personal South Jersey-fest. Mike and the gang accommodated us for a tour of the facilities – even during a brewing session. Westville is a true neighborhood brewery – a taproom/brewhouse on the main drag catering to both locals and visitors alike. They’re particularly known for the crumb cake series – pale ales infused with a fruity/pastry blend. Although we weren’t able to sample one of those, we did try some others. And while I – personally – was expecting great things, I didn’t expect to get blown away quite the way I did.
The Beer!
It’s rare for me to highlight an individual beer in this section, but in this case it seems warranted.
Westville’s Cool as a Cucumber Gose might just be my favorite entry that I’ve ever had of the style. The saltiness, lime, and cucumber come together so perfectly – nothing dominates this beer. It’s an example of perfect balance. Even though it’s February, one sip of this beer evokes memories of the Jersey shore, sun, sand, and relaxation. I really can’t recommend it enough, and I drink a lot of beer – so you can trust me. That’s how it works.
Conclusion
Westville Brewery is making some serious waves in the craft beer community. Brewing world-class beer is not easy, but Mike and the team are making it happen (and in New Jersey !) Expect Westville to become a staple of Liberty’s South Jersey tours.
