South Jersey Expansion: Eclipse Brewing
As of 2020, Liberty Brew Tours is officially touring in South Jersey. The LBTSJ series shares our first experiences with our new brewing partners on our South Jersey expansion !
Overview
Our South Jersey adventure continues with a trip to Eclipse Brewing in Merchantville, NJ ! Our hosts and owners, Chris and Beth, gave us the full tour of the facility and introduced us to the massive tap list ! There’s a lot of beer on draft, which means the brewing rig in the back is working overtime.
The Beer!
18 taps ?! Eclipse has both quality and quantity. Chris is not permitted to sleep at any point in order to keep supplies up, but it’s for the benefit of the rest of us. The options are varied, too – an Almond Joy Porter, or the Heartbreaker Russian Imperial Stout on Nitro (aged in bourbon barrels). The Raspberry Drizzle Barleywine clocks in at a massive 18% ABV !
Here’s the two we’re allowed to discuss:
Coconut Cream Ale – a light-bodied, malt-forward brew with a gentle flavor of coconut. Perfect for the style – noticeable without being overpowering.
Haaze – A New Jersey take on a New England IPA. Juicy, with some grapefruit. 8% ABV, which means it’s sessionable (at least for us. But we’re professionals).
We also had an experimental brew, but we can’t mention it. I’ve already said too much.
Conclusion
Eclipse has a massive amount of taps centered around a friendly, inviting taproom. This is a wonderful spot to spend a few hours at; there’s just so many options, and they’re all brewed brilliantly. The staff here is also great to chat with. Eclipse was one of our favorite stops of a busy day, and we’ll be touring here regularly. Come on by and add your pin to the visitor map !
