Located in the hot side of Greeley, CO, Wiley Roots is a true industrial park brewery. Just past the heavy machinery you’ll find a big bar, outdoor seating, and an ever-evolving tap list.
I snapped some pictures, talked to the brewers, and grabbed a variety of samples. Riley and the crew told me about their recent history (opened in 2013) and quick success. The Super 77 Wheat won medals at GABF in 2013 and 2015, and then I forgot to try it. I did have these, though:
Midnight on the Run: A high-gravity porter with deep, rich coffee and chocolate.
Jynx – A Blackberry saison, sort of. Maltier than I expected.
Blood Orange Gose – Explosive tartness, orange peel, and coriander. Mad sour.
Deep Roots Chocolate Porter – similar to Midnight on the Run, but lower alcohol and more caramel.
Twice Brewed – An imperial milk stout with coffee. I grabbed a bottle of this to share with the Liberty team back in PA, and it was a great choice. Strong blended coffee aroma and taste, with cinnamon and vanilla.
I was a huge fan of both Twice Brewed and the Blood Orange Gose. I can definitely see why these guys are racking up GABF medals.
